Group therapy is a modality used in most treatment settings. It is part of the necessary training for substance abuse counselor. Due to continual researched and studies for evidence based treatment, group therapy and its changes should be part of the continued training for therapists and counselors.  This course will present an overview of substance abuse group dynamics and the stages of change as they relate to substance abuse treatment. The training will include five therapy models used in group therapy, and leadership styles for these therapy models, as well as the stages of treatment and how they affect the group process.
