Given the increasing number of men and women returning from Operation Enduring Freedom/Operation Iraqi Freedom, it is important for community providers to be able to recognize and treat some of the major challenges these American heroes face. Returning veterans are ill informed about how to cope with the remnants of their combat experiences; thus, at times they self-medicate with alcohol and/or drugs. Because consumers of mental health/substance abuse services may be misinformed about Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Substance Use Disorders (SUD), it is important for providers to know what to look for so they can be of assistance to consumers. This workshop has limited seating.
